The Yema Story

Yema: A French Horological Adventure

Founded in 1948 by Henry Louis Belmont, Yema is a French watch brand that has set itself apart through its innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship. Based in Besançon, the capital of French watchmaking, Yema has become an icon in the world of vintage watches thanks to its emblematic models and technical innovations.

Emblematic watches

One of Yema's first successes was the creation of the Yema Superman in 1963, a diver's watch water-resistant to 300 meters. This model quickly became a must-have for professional divers and water sports enthusiasts alike. The Superman's distinguishing feature is its bezel block, a Yema-patented innovation that prevents the rotating bezel from accidentally moving underwater. Today, this model remains a benchmark in the world of vintage diving watches.

The Conquest of Space

In 1982, Yema made history by becoming the first French watch brand to send a watch into space. The Yema Spationaut I accompanied astronaut Jean-Loup Chrétien on his space mission aboard the Saliout 7 space station. This model was specially designed to withstand the extreme conditions of space, reinforcing Yema's reputation for robustness and precision.

A History of Passion and Innovation

Yema has continued to innovate over the decades, launching models that have become watchmaking classics. The Yema Rallygraflaunched in the 1960s, is a sports watch dedicated to motor racing enthusiasts, with its design inspired by the dashboards of racing cars. This model is particularly appreciated for its precise chronograph and retro styling.

In 1970, Yema also launched the Yachtingrafa watch designed for sailors and racers. With its countdown timer and tachometer, the Yachtingraf has become an indispensable tool for sailing enthusiasts. These emblematic models testify to Yema's commitment to creating watches that combine functionality and aesthetics.

Yema's heritage in Vintage Watches

Today, Yema continues to appeal to collectors and vintage watch enthusiasts. The brand perpetuates its heritage by reissuing some of its most iconic models, while introducing new innovations. Yema watches are appreciated for their timeless design, reliability and history of technological achievement.

With over 70 years of history, Yema remains an iconic figure in French watchmaking, celebrated for its significant contributions to the world of vintage watches. Whether you're a diver, a pilot, a sailor or a watch enthusiast, Yema watches offer exceptional quality and a design that spans the ages.
