The Omega Story

Omega : A Watch that Defies Time

Since its foundation in 1848, Omega has established itself as one of the most prestigious and respected brands in Swiss watchmaking. Renowned for its innovation, precision and design, Omega has played a crucial role in the history of watchmaking and beyond, notably by exploring the depths of the ocean and the farthest reaches of space.

Omega's beginnings

Omega's story begins with Louis Brandt, a Swiss watchmaker who founded a watch workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1894, his sons, Louis-Paul and César, revolutionized the watchmaking industry by introducing the Omega caliber, a movement of unprecedented precision that gave the brand its name. This caliber was remarkable for its ability to be easily disassembled and reassembled for repairs, making it a popular choice among watchmakers.

Emblematic Watches

Omega has produced many iconic watches that have left their mark on history. Among them, several ranges stand out for their innovation and design.

Speedmaster : The Moon Watch

Launched in 1957, the Speedmaster is without doubt Omega's most famous watch. It became the first watch worn on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. Its robust, precise design made the Speedmaster a natural choice for astronauts, and it has since been nicknamed the "Moonwatch". This model has played a crucial role in space missions, symbolizing Omega's innovation and reliability.

Seamaster La Montre des Profondeurs

Introduced in 1948, the Seamaster is another brand icon, known for its robustness and water resistance. It became James Bond's favorite watch, appearing in several Bond films. La Seamaster combines elegance and functionality, making it a popular choice among professional and amateur divers alike. The models Seamaster Planet Ocean and Diver 300M models are particularly renowned for their exceptional underwater performance.

Constellation: Elegance and Precision

The Constellation range, launched in 1952, is synonymous with precision and elegance. It is equipped with certified chronometer movements, guaranteeing exceptional precision. Constellation models can be recognized by the claws on the case and their refined design. In 1982, the Constellation "Manhattan" introduced the iconic design with claws on the case sides, a style that continues to define the collection today.

De Ville Le Luxe Urbain

The range De Ville, launched in the 1960s, represents the pinnacle of urban luxury. It is distinguished by its elegant, sophisticated design, often combined with innovative movements such as the Co-Axial. The De Ville has often been a field of experimentation for Omega, introducing technical and aesthetic innovations that have influenced the entire Omega range.

Technical innovations

Omega has always been at the forefront of watchmaking innovation. In 1999, the brand introduced the first Co-Axial escapement movement, a technical breakthrough that improved precision and reduced the need for maintenance. This innovation solidified Omega's reputation as a leader in precision and durability.

Vintage Omega Watches

Vintage Omega watches are highly prized by collectors for their exceptional quality and timeless design. Particularly sought-after are models from the 1950s to the 1970s, the period during which Omega produced some of its most iconic timepieces. The rarity of these watches and their rich history make them highly prized collector's items.

Omega's heritage

Today, Omega continues to innovate while respecting its rich watchmaking heritage. Each watch is the fruit of know-how accumulated over more than a century and a half, combining tradition and innovation. To own an Omega watch is to own a piece of history, a symbol of precision, elegance and sophistication.
